Accounts Payable Clerk

Location: St Albans – Office based

£28,000- £30,000 + benefits

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Payable Clerk to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.

The Role

The Accounts Payable Clerk will support the Finance team in ensuring all Accounts Payable transactions are processed in line with company policies and procedures. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing supplier relationships, and supporting month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable inbox, escalating queries where necessary and responding in a timely manner
  • Log invoices into the finance system, raising and resolving queries as required
  • Process staff expenses and reconcile credit card and petty cash transactions
  • Perform daily banking tasks, including downloading transactions from HSBC and processing AP transactions
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and raise supplier payments
  • Assist with payment forecasting
  • Identify and correct processing errors
  • Support month-end closing activities and respond to related queries
  • Assist with audit requirements as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records

About You

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or finance administration role
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
